Isadoora Theatre Company Opens "English Zoo Flies"

(DOOR COUNTY, WI) Excitement builds as Isadoora Theatre Company opens the first show of their 2003-2004 season at Peninsula Art School in Fish Creek. English Zoo Flies, an evening of relationships and one-act plays, travels around Door County with the opening performance at Peninsula Art School on Friday Oct 10 at 7:30 PM.

English Zoo Flies is a compilation of three one-act plays by two of the brightest playwrights in contemporary theatre. Isadoora chose the title for their exotic series by combining the titles of the three plays English Made Simple by David Ives, The Zoo Story by Edward Albee and Time Flies by David Ives. Together, the three short plays accomplish the goal of quality theatre that is entertaining as well as thought provoking.

"Each one of the shows in this series was carefully chosen in order to develop our ideas of human relationships," said Artistic Director Ben Meyer. "There are no better playwrights for that task than Albee and Ives. The three plays form a nice blend of humor and comedy with drama and plot accentuating the playwrights’ brilliance."

The Zoo Story brings two seemingly opposite characters together for a life-altering interaction. Sharing the same park bench, the gentlemen get closer as their past histories and feelings are poured out.

English Made Simple introduces the audience to a young couple. The two meet at a party where their brief romance is translated into a comically unromantic grammar lesson as they struggle to free themselves from the constraints of party talk.

Time Flies takes us into a day in the life of two lonely mayflies. They innocently watch a nature program only to discover that their lives are half-over and they have only one thing left to accomplish.

Isadoora Theatre Company brings English Zoo Flies supported in part by a grant from the Peninsula Arts Association and the Wisconsin Arts Board with funds from the state of Wisconsin. The small cast of local talent consists of Jim Lautenbach, Elena Keir and Mark Moede; directors are Ben Meyer and Sheila Sabrey-Saperstein.

English Zoo Flies opens on Friday Oct 10 at 7:30 PM at the Peninsula Art School, Fish Creek. The run continues with another Peninsula Art School performance on Saturday Oct 11 at 7:30 PM followed by a performance at Ephraim Village Hall, Ephraim on Sunday Oct 12 at 7:30 PM. Tickets are priced at $7 (students) and $10 (adults). Seating is general admission with the house opening at 7 PM and the box office opening at 6:30 PM. Tickets may be reserved by calling 920-493-9700 or purchased at the door.
