Isadoora Announces Cast for “Talking With” By Jane Martin

Isadoora Theatre Company, Door County’s only community-based theatre company, has another talented group of actors in rehearsal for their fall show, Talking With by Jane Martin.

The eleven-member cast includes: Gay Pustaver, Ann Barnard, Mary White, Chris Milton, Andrea Fearing, Karen McClelland, Wendy Garvoille, Melanie Koyen, Adrienne Kent, Sara Neurenhausen and Amber Heise.

Directed by Gayle Johnson, Talking With is a delightful series of monologues about enthusiasms that become obsessions, delivered by eleven characters of widely different backgrounds, temperaments, voices and quirks. The show runs October 20-23 at Third Avenue Playhouse, Sturgeon Bay and October 27-30 at Ephraim Village Hall.

Kyra Valentine is the Assistant Director, costumes and makeup are by Cindy LaCrosse, and set, lights and sound are being designed by Peter Daniels and directed by John Berglund.

“Rarely are we given the luxury of someone speaking so honestly from the idiosyncratic honesty of their soul,” says Johnson. “Jane Martin writes with such amusing honesty that this script provides a rich and witty text for eleven lucky actresses. And I am the fortunate director to spend time exploring what these stories mean for them. What fun we are having together!”

Websites speculate on the true identity of Jane Martin. According to doollee.com, “She has been referred to as "America's best known, unknown playwright." The name Jane Martin is widely believed to be a pseudonym. She has never made any public appearances or spoken about any of her works. Nor has she ever given an interview. No biographical details are known about her and no photographs of Ms. Martin have ever been published.” Other sites claim “she” is a man. Nevertheless, an entertaining evening is guaranteed whenever you get 11 women on stage obsessing.

Isadoora most recently performed The Laramie Project, The Foreigner and An Actor’s Nightmare in northern Door County and Sturgeon Bay. Isadoora Theatre Company celebrates theatre through its basic elements of movement, music, story and thought. The company provides theatrical experiences of intellectual integrity fulfilled by open self-examination and artistic risk for the educational and cultural enrichment of the community.
