Isadoora Theatre Company to Reprise Side by Side in August

BAILEYS HARBOR (July 24, 2004) Due to requests from Door County’s summer residents, Isadoora Theatre Company is reprising "Side by Side by Sondheim", a musical revue featuring the songs of Stephen Sondheim. The show is at 7:30 pm, August 27-29 at the Gibraltar Town Hall in Fish Creek. The show was last performed in February at the Ephraim Village Town Hall, Ephraim, and at Third Avenue Playhouse, Sturgeon Bay.

The cast consists of Ann K. Barnard, Christine Callsen, Mary Hall, Ben Meyer, Andrew Olson, and Katie Schnorr, as vocalists and Charlie Dickson as narrator. Direction is by Christine Callsen and choreography is by Jane Hillstrom. The production team is rounded out by Karen Stangel, pianist and rehearsal accompanist, John Sutton, bass player, Roger Kuhns, technical director, Mary Brown, props mistress and assistant stage manager, and Sue Donohoo, costume designer. Lighting design is by Michael Christman with technical assistance by Travis Garrison.

Stephen Sondheim is today's most influential living Broadway musical composer and lyricist. He has created musicals, such as, "A Little Night Music", "Company", "Gypsy", "West Side Story", "Sweeney Todd", "Follies", "Pacific Overtures", "Passion" and others. He has nearly single handedly revolutionized the American musical theatre genre. He has been called the "best lyric writer of our time; the most adventurous composer of musicals; and the most considerable musical dramatist."

The fast moving revue includes favorites "Comedy Tonight", "Send in the Clowns", and "Broadway Baby". One of Sondheim's favorite themes is relationships in and around marriage. People that have been in love or relationships will find themselves laughing as they relate to the songs, such as, "Can That Boy Fox Trot" and "I Never Do Anything Twice."

"Isadoora continues to grow," says Andrew Olson, president. "We are amazed and appreciative of the talent Craig and Kathy Little brought to this show in February. They shared their years of experience in musical theatre in the Chicago area with the cast."

Most recently, Isadoora Theatre Company performed "Sexual Perversity in Chicago," "English Zoo Flies", "The Fantasticks", "Living Up to Memorial Day", and "Lone Star" and "Laundry and Bourbon."

Tickets are $12 adults, $10 seniors and $7 children by calling the box office at 920-493-DOOR.
